Fun and Romantic Date Ideas for Expecting Couples

Fun Dates Ideas

The journey to becoming parents is an exciting, transformative time, but let’s be honest—sometimes it can become full of appointments, to-do lists and baby focused. It’s easy for romance to take a backseat and heck, this is why you are pregnant in the first place! So here are some fun date ideas for pregnant couples, for you to find connection and some romance in this special phase!

This is the perfect time to prioritize your relationship before your little one arrives. Date nights (or days!) don’t have to be extravagant to be special. The key is finding activities that let you relax, bond, and celebrate this journey together. Whether you’re feeling energetic or just want to keep things cozy, we’ve rounded up some fun and romantic date ideas for expecting couples!

1. Become the DJ (With a Baby Twist!)

Take a night and create your labor playlists! Together, make a list of special songs that you would want played while you are in labor. As doulas, here are our suggestions for playlist ideas to guide you through all parts of your birth.

  • Songs that are special and sentimental. Ones that make you feel safe and happy.
  • Fun, high energy music. Songs that get you moving and dancing.
  • A relaxing playlist, whether that is nature sounds, harp songs or piano. What relaxes you?

2. Take a Birth Class Together

This Birth Dates class was life-changing. I can’t imagine going into labor without it. Besides making us feel completely prepped, confident, and at ease for birth, it allowed us some real bonding moments as a couple. The guided activities were fun and brought us closer together during this precious time of pregnancy.” – Wes & August

At Birth Dates, we make sure our classes are fun, engaging, and practical, so you both leave feeling ready and excited. You can even turn it into a full date night by grabbing dinner before the In-Person Class or order takeout and do it in the privacy of your own king bed with the Self-paced class!

3. Have a Babymoon Staycation

Who says you have to hop on a plane to enjoy a babymoon? A staycation can be just as relaxing and romantic!

Ideas for a perfect babymoon at home:

  • Book a night at a local hotel or cozy Airbnb.
  • Plan a spa night with face masks, belly butter massages, and comfy robes.
  • Order your favorite takeout and watch a feel-good movie.
  • Sleep in (because soon, that won’t be an option!)
  • Head to a cozy lodge for a weekend and take a self-paced birth class together in a king sized bed with room service.

4. Go on a Picnic (Even If It’s Indoors!)

A pregnant couple enjoying a picnic in a sunny park with a basket of snacks, sharing a joyful moment together.

Depending on where you live, if the weather is nice, pack up some delicious snacks, grab a comfy blanket, and head to a local park for a relaxing afternoon in the sun. But if it’s too hot (or too cold), set up a cozy indoor picnic in your living room!

Make it extra special with:

  • Soft pillows and twinkly lights.
  • A playlist of your favorite songs.
  • A basket of pregnancy-friendly snacks (cheese, crackers, fresh fruit, and mocktails!).

Bonus points if you include a mini baby shower gift exchange—each of you can surprise the other with a small baby-related gift, like a book for your little one or a special keepsake.

5. Take a Fun, Low-Key Class Together

Learning something new as a couple is a great way to strengthen your bond and have fun in the process. Plus, with pregnancy cravings in full swing, a cooking class could be a great idea!

Fun classes to try:
🍳 Cooking or baking class – Perfect for testing out new pregnancy-friendly recipes!
🎨 Pottery or painting class – Create something special for the baby’s nursery.
🧘‍♀️ Prenatal yoga – A relaxing way to move together while focusing on breathing and mindfulness.

If you’re looking for a hands-on FUN class to bond you as couple, why not mix a date with your Childbirth Class? Way better than sitting in a hospital birth class. Our Birth Dates class is setup in a more romantic way! We will get your partner learning massage techniques, the Labor Dance and positions to reduce pain in birth. In just 5 sessions, your partner will learn how to support you like a pro in birth!

6. Go on a Nostalgic “First Date”

A couple holding hands at a familiar restaurant, reminiscing about their first date while enjoying a meal together in a cozy, romantic setting.

Recreate the magic of your very first date! Whether it was a coffee shop meetup, a dinner date, or a trip to the movies, reliving those early moments is a sweet way to celebrate how far you’ve come.

If your first date was casual, dress up a little and make it feel extra special. If it was fancy, embrace the comfort of maternity leggings and flats! The goal is to have fun and reminisce.

7. Have a DIY Spa Night

Enjoying a DIY spa night and a cozy atmosphere.

Pregnancy can come with its fair share of aches, so why not turn self-care into a couples’ spa night? Don’t think about the to-do list, and just soak in a relaxing night at home together, creating your own spa experience….way cheaper than a real spa too!

Set the mood with:

  • A warm foot soak.
  • Take a herbal bath together.
  • DIY face masks
  • Get a special belly balm and give the mom-to-be a full belly massage (relaxing and helps reduce stretch marks) Grab this Organic Tummy Balm one is highly recommended by physical therapists
  • Aromatherapy with relaxing scents like lavender.
  • Soft music and candlelight.

For a spa-like experience at home, grab some pregnancy-safe skincare products from Baby Nest Birth Boutique. Their body butters, postpartum recovery balms, and herbal teas make for a luxurious night in!

8. Plan a Late-Night Dessert Run

A couple enjoying a late-night dessert run, sharing a sweet moment.

One of the biggest perks of pregnancy? Cravings! Imagine your coffee table full of all different desserts to dive into!

Make a date out of satisfying your sweet tooth—head out for ice cream, milkshakes, cookies, or whatever sounds amazing at the moment. If you’re too tired to leave the house, order delivery and set up a cozy dessert tasting at home.

For a fun twist, let your partner pick a surprise treat for you based on your cravings!

9. Write Letters to Your Baby

Writing heartfelt letter to a baby, with a journal open and a pen in hand, creating a special keepsake for the future.

This is a sweet and sentimental activity that will mean so much in the years to come. Take some time together to write letters to your baby—sharing your excitement, hopes, and funny pregnancy stories.

You could read them during labor as motivation. Or you can store the letters in a keepsake box or plan to give them to your child when they’re older. It’s a simple but meaningful way to connect during this special time.

10. Go for a Scenic Drive or Walk

A couple enjoying a scenic drive, taking in the beautiful views and sharing peaceful moments together.

Sometimes, simple is best. A slow drive through a scenic area or a peaceful evening walk can be just the thing to unwind and connect.

Make it special by:

  • Bringing along your favorite playlist.
  • Grab a coffee or milkshake for the drive.
  • Finding a scenic overlook to stop and enjoy the view.
  • Talking about baby names, nursery ideas, or future family traditions.

If walking is uncomfortable, bring along a support belly band or find a short, easy trail where you can sit and relax along the way.

Make Time for Date Night

Whether it’s Valentine’s Day or just a regular Wednesday, it’s important for parents-to-be to keep connected. More than ever, this time is there to strengthen communication and intimacy so you have a solid foundation after the baby comes home.

Making time for fun, intentional dates helps strengthen your bond before the next big adventure—parenthood! Whether you’re in the mood for a relaxing night in or an exciting night out, the most important thing is to enjoy this special season together.
